The Green Point Project is situated on an Archaeological site that was once inhabited by the Cowichan's First Nations People. Historian's and First Nation's elders understand that the infamous Chief Tzouhalem lived in this very area with his family, followers and warriors. Green Point was where they lived, cooked, made salt, fished, hunted, and defended their land from invaders.
As Co-Founders of the project, we feel strongly that the heritage and history of this unique region must be respected and preserved. We are so pleased to have Archaeologist Steve Hamm and First Nations Specialist Harold Joe, as part of our team to oversee the excavation. Our children and their friends are having a wonderful and educational experience working on the dig that they will always remember. This ensures that any artifacts found are taken care of in the proper manner and culturally and historically respected.
